Newmyer Flyer Presents: THE SIMON & GARFUNKEL SONGBOOK Featuring Tom Lofgren, Kipyn Martin, Heather Lloyd, Mark Lofgren, Tom Fridrich, Ronnie Newmyer
One of popular music’s most successful partnerships, Simon & Garfunkel’s music captured the emotions of the 1960s like no other. Paul Simon’s intelligent, incisive and sometimes playful lyrics were wrapped in hauntingly beautiful melodies graced by Art Garfunkel’s angelic harmonies. The effect went straight to the listener’s heart and left you with plenty to think on as you hummed along to Simons’ catchy hooks.
Simon & Garfunkel’s 1966 smash hits Sounds of Silence, Homeward Bound and I Am a Rock were cornerstones of the emerging “folk -rock” sound. Their popularity soared, as did their artistic vision, when their songs including Mrs. Robinson and Scarborough Fair were featured prominently in the soundtrack to The Graduate. 1970’s Bridge Over Troubled Water album featuring The Boxer, Cecelia and The Only Living Boy in New York saw them sweeping the Grammy Awards and cementing their place in music history.
Kipyn Martin & Heather Lloyd are two of the finest singers and most popular performers in the regional original folk scene. Tom Lofgren toured the world as a part of brother Nils Lofgrens’ bands for 25 years and has been a cornerstone of Newmyer Flyers’ popular Beatles tributes. Mark Lofgren has been wowing audiences singing with the Lofgren Brothers and Grin Again. Drummer Tom Fridrich performs with Ruthie & The Wranglers, Dave Chappell and others. He and bassist Ronnie Newmyer are a versatile rhythm section and round out the band.
Newmyer Flyer is the DC areas’ premier tribute concert producer and the 2nd production company from BandHouse Gigs co-founder Ronnie Newmyer. Previous shows include; The Last Waltz Tribute, Laurel Canyon, The Beach Boys Pet Sounds & The Beatles Revolver , The Best of Janis Joplin & Jimi Hendrix, A Tribute to Little Feat, The Songs of Burt Bacharach & Hal David & many more.

Kipyn (Kai) Martin brings the music of Joni Mitchell to life in We Are Stardust, a heartfelt tribute that captures the depth, poetry, and emotional resonance of one of the most influential songwriters of the 20th century. With a voice that moves effortlessly between strength and vulnerability, Kai channels the spirit of Mitchell’s work while offering a fresh, personal interpretation that feels both authentic and immediate.
Drawing from Mitchell’s expansive catalog, We Are Stardust explores the many eras of her songwriting—from the intimate, folk-rooted early years to the more complex, jazz-influenced compositions that followed. Kai’s nuanced vocal delivery and thoughtful arrangements highlight the lyrical richness and melodic sophistication that define Mitchell’s music, inviting audiences to listen deeply and rediscover familiar songs in a new light.
